I bought a project boat from a guy near my house for about $1000.00 $$$ and he did a good majority of the restoration work himself and I did the rest. Its a 16' Elite with a 50HP motor and I got the rest of the work done, now never launching a boat I was being so carefull that I was worried people were gonna get pissed at me for being slow at doing things.. I was just trying to be SAFE!Peolpeare rude and un concerdring of other people its sad. Anyway, I had a good run that day and we have gone back ever since and the last time we made out like a bandit in the fishing hole! Isnt it funny how much more fish ya catch in a boat than off a brige or a peir?

Yeah, congrats... don't let a couple lippy onlookers bother you. They're jealous because they don't have a boat to launch :)
78382782372?

Re: First boat!

I can understand completely! My husband and I acquired a boat through the purchase of an old truck. The boat was kind of a through in on the deal.

I myself, was raised around boating and fishing and have been wanting a boat for many years. My husband has never been a fisher or a boater let a lone a water person, so its really all new to him. I wish my Dad were still around to help me. There are so many things I took for granted....wish I had paid more attention to things then.

I have found that being a first time boat owner is difficult and you find yourself asking the silliest questions. I too have witnessed the rude behavior of others at the ramps. As well as the local marine stores, I thought they would be more helpful with my questions and such - but I guess I am going by trial and error. But I have to start somewhere, right?

Good luck and I wish you safe and happy boating! ;)
