Picked up this 1988 115 inline 6, sat up for about three years but I took the chance on it.
first thing I did was check the lower end, pulled the the plug and there was no meatal on the magnet
, dained it put in fresh oil, next I cleaned all the carbs, new wires and spark plugs, then was the test on starting it.
I called a repair shop to find out what mix to use and was told to use double oil on the gas mix, for the first two tanks, tried to start it but no luck.
Check everything, coils switch boxes relays, everything was in spec, what I found was ( :redface
the kill switch was off, well it fired right up
.
the motor is on a 18' fiberglass tracker F/S took my time the first time out, ran good, next ime I took it out it ran about 55- 60 mph, hot damn and the booat was free, first time I ever work on a boat motor, I bought a shop manual and if I can do it so can you.
