First off I would like to say hello as this is my first post on this forum. I just recently came into possesion of a MFG boat, a 1965 17' Edinboro Custom. My neighbor who I am friends with was attempting to sell this boat along with three outboards and wasn't having much luck. He was about to scrap it when I asked if he would trade me everything for a WWII era Russian rifle that I had paid 170 bucks for. He had wanted to buy a Mosin rifle in the past but hadn't yet so he agreed to the trade and I am the new proud owner of a MFG!!!
I am completely new to the owning of a boat, and this Edinboro will certainly be an interesting experience. Needless to say she has seen better days and right away I knew if I was gonna keep her some major work was going to need to go into her. The previous owners that my neighbor bought the boat from obviously had no real repair experience and it showed in what they did to the ol girl. I'd go into more detail about all the problems but it would take many many paragraphs to go over them all. I will simply let the pics do the talking in this area.
The three outboards that came with her are all 70's era models. A 65 horse Mercury that is completely shot, a 80 horse Mercury that needs to be completely rewired, and a 65 horse Johnson that luckily is in very good shape and seems to run like a dream. So it looks like I have a project on my hands and a very realistic goal of restoring this old beauty and getting her back in the water. So far this MFG forum has been a great help already and hopefully will continue to do so during this rebuild. Anyway enough talk... here are some pics! You can click on the pic to get a larger view.
