Nice site...I usually blog at Texas football sites.

I have a 2003 Sea Ray 210, w/ factory 2" tower. Several questions. I need two racks: One to hold WBs and 1 for skis. Will a WB rack accomodate skis?

I can buy a pair w/ savings but afraid the WB rack won't accept skis.

I want to buys said items, hopefully used, but not sure where to look. Web isn't much help and telephone calls are unreliable. I don't need titanitum metal or gold, just nice racks that look OK and will functions for years. Not trying to impress anyone.

Also, need entire speaker ensemble. Boat already has speakers but not sure what to buy regarding "do I need an amp, bass booster, etc." Again, want nice system w/out breaking the bank. Boat w/n play in Carneigie Hall so don't need philharmonic system....just something nice and highly affordable. Are these easy to install?Do I want this perm installed or easy to remove because of theft, etc. Any help is appreciated for these many questions mtaylor2@satx.rr.com

Re: First Post: WB Racks and Speakers

You should be able to find a rack that will accept a slalom or a combo. http://www.monstertower.com/racks.htm. I have combo skis in my ski hold and that often leaves my slalom on deck. So i was considering converting one side to the ski rack and leave the other for wakeboards.

Been a long time since i dabbled in bumps. Best I can say on the stereo is to check your deck for how many channels and watts (4 channels and 100 watts = 4 x 25watts etc.). Pick your speakers and look at the max watts. Too little power at the speaker is often the reason for bad sound. You could probably get by with a two channel amp to the tower speakers. Maybe hard mount it under the passenger side dash. Then you would have to run your power along the gunwale to the battery which i think is on the same side.

Someone sent me a link to a pair of tower speakers with amp on craigslist a few weeks ago. 6 or 7 bills. Are you a Red 210 out on Canyon? If so we have rafted up a couple of times. I'm a Blue 220 Select w/tower.

Re: First Post: WB Racks and Speakers

To adress your ski & Wakeboard rack question;

There are many different type of wakeboard racks available on e-bay and I have seen some special racks available that just hold water ski's that attach to a wakeboard tower. Just keep checking e-bay and type in "wakeboard tower" on a search regularly and you will find some. Though they do sell these racks I am not really understanding why you want to put you water skis on your wakeboard tower. The whole reason for wakeboard racks is due to the fact that they do not fit in a ski locker and take up a great deal of room in a boat, while skis do actually fit in a ski locker, which is standard equipment on many boats. The wakeboard racks I bought were from lip boating and they seem to run specials on e-bay from time to time here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200200818820 The reason i purchased these racks is that first of all they were cheap and second of all the have a quick release mechanism to take them off quickly for towing and to get under my boat lift. I searched their items and here is a water ski rack http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200200298124&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=200200818820&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%252BSS%26itu%3DISS%252BUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4

To adress your stereo question;

There are also several wakeboard tower speakers available on e-bay, I choose liquid audio, due to price and look. You will find several different liquid audio speakers available on e-bay and their prices are cheaper than their website as a pair of chrome kicker 6.5" can often be had for about $150. Here is a link to one of their auctions going on now http://cgi.ebay.com/POLK-MOMO-Polished-Wakeboard-Tower-Boat-Speakers_W0QQitemZ360047903574QQihZ023QQcategoryZ15272QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Now if you already have 4 speakers inside your boat hooked up to your head unit then you will have to buy an amplifier to hook up the towerer speakers. If you only have 2 speakers inside your boat now, then you could run the tower speakers off the other two chanels, however, if you really want to get the best sound and do what the speakers are designed to do, which is hear them when you are wakeboarding then buy a marine amp.

Now since you want to buy wakeboard tower speakers, you must consider that if you really want a clean look, you are going to have to run the speaker wire inside the wakeboard tower, which can be difficult, since your tower is already installed. I would never consider running the speaker wire outside the tower!. Here is a link for the tower wiring I purchased from e-bay, which was by far cheaper than anywhere else. http://cgi.ebay.com/WAKEBOARD-TOWER-BOAT-SPEAKERS-WIRING-KIT-MARINE-SPEAKER_W0QQitemZ330232430000QQihZ014QQcategoryZ15272QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
There are only a couple wakeboard tower speakers I have seen that have quick release connecters and they are often more costly.

Let me know if you have any more ?

Re: First Post: WB Racks and Speakers

Thanks to all. Good point about "why do I want to temp store skis on ski rack."
Because I thought instead of having to lift up tthe seats etc, I'd just stick them there for the day and save the hassle of having to remove them over and over

Real nice info (very helpful) on speaker suggestions. Haven't bought from E-Bay before but I guess it's time.

My Sea Ray is blue and stored in a slip at Randolph.

Will a WB rack accomodate a knee board?

Again, thanks to all.

I understand you run the wire through the tower after its connected to the speakers but how do you get the wire into the boat? Is another hole drilled or what?
