Winter last about 2 weeks here but man can it rain:eek:. When i lived in the Chilcotin ( north west of oops) it lasted about 4 months and temps down to -45 for weeks. Now i bet Yukon Mike could tell stories of cold.

Or DonS... He was in Alaska for years....

You got that rite, i got many story's of the cold ....-50 for week's...frozen water lines, trucks that dont start...square tires...rock hard seats...makes me wonder what the heck i'm doing up here, especially when i here storys from people living in Florida...but there is something about the north that grabs you. the northern lights are incredable in the cold of the winter, you can hear them there so close. you really know you're alive standing outside in that weather.

So actually when do you get to boat? How short is the boating season for you that far North?

I am jealous! I love the cold and snow ... but the last few years have seemed to miss all the "good ones!" Hunting in CO last week ... the snow was just north of us. Come on cold and snow!

Remember, you can always put on another layer, but there is only so much you can take off!

The boating season here is from the end of may till mid oct...but there's allways the option of driving to the ocean about 2 hour drive

I can relate to all of that. When its extreme cold you just realise how fragile life is. Nothing like taking a pee out side and it freezes before it hits the ground:eek:.

I miss the northern lights we dont seem to get them here.

achris i didnt know DonS lived up there.

Snow.....yea i remember that, getting all cosy by the fire and having a real christmas, im from northern England, (yes, old England), but now i moved to south Texas, SOUTH Texas. Here in Edinburg we're 5 miles from the Mexico border and it was about 92F here on monday:eek:. Its just too dang hot here for a white boy from the UK, i burn after being out for 30 mins in the summer, (about 110F). I just really miss all those cold snowy evening's, granted it is a pain to clear your drive and have to plug your car in, but i would take that ANYDAY, over walking outside to get the mail, and sweating before you get back to the house. (And the box is about 50ft away!!!!!):mad::mad:

I live in Perth, Australia... Summers here are quite warm... The hotter days (Oct-Apr) can be over 110F, but it's a dry heat, not a lot of humidity, so it's quite enjoyable. (lots of boat time:D:D) My wife is from Petropavlovsk (Kamchatka) where a hot summer day is about 80... But the winters are really cold... I was there for 4 weeks last Jan... A warm day was 20 below  (The day I left is was -25F). 4 weeks was enough for me... had to get out of there... But I love my skiing :D which is why I do like the snow, but I couldn't live in it all the time.

Still a reasonable amount of time. Longer than our sledding season down here .

but there is only so much you can take off!

Yeah, and then you can jump in the water. There is no opposite effect unless you jump back into the house.:)
