"they have yet to get back to me after requesting information twice on the site."

Sorry to say, but that is not unusual. The boating biz in many ways is "old school". Not anywhere near as up to speed on Web marketing as car dealers are. Many, maybe even most, boat dealers do not pay attention to E-mail or online stuff. Inconvenient, but I would not rule these dealers out as being inferior.

Thats the way I do business, I own an ad/marketing company. I want someone who will respond according to my lifestyle, and that is partially dictated by being able to email as well as call.

If I have to request information twice for something I am going to spend $30k + on (with the notation in memo that I am ready to buy right now, cash in hand), I cant imagine the responsiveness if I have a problem.

Just the way I operate.

The Sea Ray dealer has emailed me back immediately, sent a brochure, called my cell, and has corresponded now 4 or 5 times in a quick fashion with complete, concise answers.

I prefer email, by the way, because there is now a track record of what was "said" between parties.:)

Just don't let the Sea Ray dealer know all you eggs are in one basket. Make him think you are pricing and looking at a couple other comparable boats. Granted, he will not spend some time 'bashing' those brands, but in the end, you may get a better price.

Also, don't be afraid to walk away from a sale. "Toy" sales are down due to the economy. Most likely he wants your sale just as badly as you want a boat. Remember, you have until spring unless you were planning on getting some fall boating in(even so, let him think you might walk away)

Oh, he knows I was looking at four winns and another company or two.

Costs were established before I chose, and I am getting a very good deal, with a lot of extras (throwing in upgraded stereo with sirius, depth finder few other goodies).

I am quite good at negotiating, having a company with several salespeople working for me that I train ;-)

In any event, price to me isn't important as much as having a dealer I feel is going to work at keeping me a client for the next boat purchase in years to come.
