First time boat owner! Make me an intellignet boater in launch, operation, & loading

Hey guys! I bought a nice 93 Seaswirl with the 4.3l OMC cobra drive. I have been trying to soak up as much info on boating as possible but am still learning a lot. If you could post the major DO's and DO NOTS that would be great. For example, I just found out you should never run an outdrive in the up or trailered position. The outdrive oil and engine oil were changed last year, and the boat ran good when we bought it. Just want to keep it nice and not do anything dumb with it before we start going out a lot. Also what is the proper procedure to run the boat off a hose with muffs? Is there anything I should service this year before hitting the water regularly? Thanks for taking the time with a Newbie! I am just an excited new boat owner!

Ayuh,... Have you perused the Adults Only section of this forum yet,..??
Pay closer attention to the Winterization thread,+ more so, the Summerization thread...

This is the forum for engine and drive questions TG1, posting questions about general boat operation, launching, etc. would be best asked over in the Boat Topics and Questions ( Not engines) forum.
As far as engine and drive. First, get a set of OEM service manuals for engine and drive.
Second, go up to the adults only sticky and start reading. There is a lot of general engine and drive maintence information there. Especially look at the Winteizing and summerizing threads. They pretty much cover yearly maintenance.

Not flaming at all, just explaining. You still asked engine questions that should be answered here, other wise I would have just moved the thread to the other forum.
