Hey how you guys doing today,

i just purchased a 1988 21ft Larson Cuddy cabin with the porta-potti room and sink and lil bed area.

So much nice then the Bay-liner we had. The Bay-liner when i bout had to many issues i never finished ended up selling and got this one.

my only thing is i been on boat but never operated. too many things i saw that confusing me like a drain near floor at beginning of Cuddy cabin. Is that just from water that might come over the side or bow an just lil things like i seen water under the inboard before in friends boats but why is it there. I know i need to go out with a experienced boater a few times but i don't wanna look dumb lol. Any info will be really appreciated for things i need to know.

thanks steve

Hi and welcome aboard. You'll get loads of great advise here but to start I highly recommend going on a boating course.
Happy sailing. :)

Drains can run to the bilge, where a pump ejects water out of the boat through a hose and hull fitting on the side of the boat. It probably isn't a bailing scupper, which would take the water and dump it out of the boat via gravity.

Without pics we're guessing.

Take pics. Post them. Ask questions. Boaters here love answering questions.

Man that sure is a big boat to start out boating with! I started with a 9' pond prowler. Hahahahaa!

Well.... I started with a 21, the following season moved up to a 24, and 2 seasons after that moved up to the 27 I have now. I think I'm done for awhile, but Craigslist is always beckoning... :)

Congrats on the purchase. I like Larsons. And yes, take a boating course via US Power Squadrons (I'm a member), CG auxiliary or similar. You'll be amazed at how much you don't know. Seriously, don't be one of 'those guys' who puts everyone at risk. There're too many of 'em already.

from everything i've heard bayliners are junk. larson makes a good boat. theyve been making them for a very long time. i just bought one myself actually! ive never taken a course but it sounds like a great idea. they arent offered anywhere near where i live or i would for sure. if u dont have access to a course like me just take an old salt out with you your first few times. those older guys that have been boating forever are just a huge wealth of knowledge.
