First time boat repair

I have just started working on a 1980 v17 VIP boat. going to redeck and need some info. How hard will it be to remove the top cap? and do i need to brace the bottom before i remove the cap. Don't really want to remove the cap but think it will make things alot better if i do. Transom seams to be fine but the stringers are bad.

You found the right place...... just start reading and searching here in the restoration section. If you are going to remove the cap and do the stringers then do the transom too.

Do a bunch of test holes.
