Re: First time out, major shudder / vibration...

Back on the water this morning, 35.4 MPH without trim and correct prop. Shudder / vibration is gone. Not sure if it was some of the work I did to it or the diff prop but it is gone! It's got alot of power and sounds good! Thank you guys very much!

The only issue it had and maybe you guys know off the top of your heads...When you throttle up slowly, she will bog down and eventually die at about 1500-2000 rpm. If you bring it back to nuetral and throttle it fast, she gets up and goes. Any ideas?

Thanks again! I am a happy camper, I mean boater:)

Put the old prop back on for 5 minutes...then you'll know for sure...;)

The 'dying' in the 2000 rpm range may be either not correctly synched (timing/carbs) or a problem with the intermediate circuit in one or more carbs.

Re: First time out, major shudder / vibration...

I re-timed the motor using the Joe Reeves method with the throttle fully advanced...was dead on. I went through the link / sync adjustments in the manual...some, I have to say were not exactly clear. Especially when it comes to to the warm up / start lever positioning. the manual seems to contradict itself in different chapters, but I think I got it, not too much that needed changing, a tweek here and there. Will take it out again saturday to test. the intermediate circuit? What part of the carb is this referring too?

Took it out and it worked great. Took a few speed runs down the lake and got it to 36.4 mph at @5800 rpm with a 13 1/4 x 17. No shudder, no bogging down throughout the rpm range. Time to winterize it and see how it works in the spring:) Thanks all you guys for your help!
