Just got out here in Iowa. It was nice weather and over 85 degrees. I still need to get my tach on but topped out at 18 mph GPS. Not bad I thought for a 40hp merc on a 20 footer with 23" toons. It ran perfect but unsure on my rpms. I get my tach in the mail Thursday.

Re: First time out on my new toy

Lucky you. I am in southern Iowa around Lake Rathbun. Last Sunday I checked out the pontoon, put gas in it, put on a new Solas prop and charged all batteries, it is stored about 2 miles from the lake. Then we drove around the lake to find that all the ramps are closed and no docks are in yet because of all the rain we had a few days back. The lake is about 14 or 15 feet over normal pool and they won't put in docks until it goes way down. There was not a single boat on the water last Sunday when we drove around, maybe in a couple more weeks.

Congrats on the new toy....were looking forward to Rathbun over Memorial Day, hope water level allows ramps to open up.

Re: First time out on my new toy

Made 20mph yesterday down the Mississippi! It was calmer and traveling downstream helped of course! Got my tach and props for the cover too. Going from a deep v bottom to this and the handling is much better. I feel a lot safer than the old boat. Didn't get any pictures yet. But will have to figure out how to post soon. Looks like we have more cold weather here for a while so I gotta get it ready to float before the sun comes back.
