First time out on the Holiday

I took the 16' Holiday out today and everything seemed to be working great. It was really windy, so I didn't get a chance to really run it hard, but it was great! Next time!!

The only thing I can say that needs addressing.. After I got it back home I took the plug out and there was a little water that was coming out of the drain. It wasn't too much, but just a slow drip. I hadn't planned on taking the floor out till next winter. I think in the mean time, I am going to install a bilge pump incase of any water problems..

Any suggestions on a good bilge pump setup? Thanks everyone!!

Thank you.. With the built in switch does it turn on automatically when it needs to? I am sorry for the lack of knowledge. Do I have to run a switch up to the steering console? Thanks again.

On my boat I put a good quality automatic pump wired strait to the battery switch. After a days fishing in the rain I have a little water in the bilge, on take off the water flows back there and gets pumped out. In your case you may not have enough water to start the pump. If you do chose to get a pump get the one with the auto switch and the pump all in one. There will be a wire that runs up to the dash so you can over ride the auto and run the pump. That?s handy for testing the pump or to try to get every little bit of water out.
I fish out in the ocean so my needs can be very different than out in a lake. We can get some good rains that can put a lot of water in the boat. We have another thing we call a green one. That is a wave that decides to come aboard. We also wash down the deck from all the blood that seems to go everywhere. To mount your pump I have found that bolting it to a piece of aluminum shaped like the hull holds it (gravity and the hose) and can be removed for cleaning. Remember you need a fair bit of water in the bilge to get the pump to suck any water out, so unless you have a gallon of water the pump wont do anything.
A few drips.It sounds like you really don?t need one.

Strongly suggest the bilge pump, great "better safe than sorry" insurance.
There are 2 kinds of "automatic" bilge pumps.One is a float type that when rises turns on the pump..the other is a mercury switch that is built into the pump.

Yep. It has a little channel built into it with a plastic ball in it. When it floats it turns on the pump. It has 2 positive leads on it. The first you can run right to the battery and the second one you run to a switch so you can turn it on manually whenever you want. I actually just wired mine up tonight.
