I've seen plenty of Rustoleum products, just not one specific for vinyl. I will go to a paint shop or two or maybe automotive stores to check it out. Lots of Tremclad around. I'm going to keep the green covering under the dash I think as it is in really good condition other than the dirt. Will see what it looks like after my kids give it a going over with degreaser and elbow grease. Will probably paint it same colour as the sides end up with.

I don't recall any Rusto vinyl paint either. But then again, I never looked for any.

Is it smooth or a pebble like texture? Textured might be hard to clean for paint, but it might end up looking OK. But it's still "shagnasty" green. lol

Hey Shag. Rustoleum does make a vinyl product, but SEM would be your best choice. You can pick some up at your local auto paint store.

Like I said, it's NOT been used, but the Rusto did lay down & let the vinyl texture 'veins' to show thru the dye.

If you have Autozone close, here they price matched SummitRacing's web price & didn't add the shipping costs. Basically bought 4 cans for the Autozone price for 3.

From the limited input, SEM may be a better choice. But the Rusto applied & looks great. For reference:

Well, got most of the front panel out, couple of bolts that won't come out that need cutting and then the real work will begin. Was going to stop at the gas tank but took a pic of stuff underneath and it doesn't look good so I guess the rest of the floor is coming out.

When I remove gas tank is there anything special other than no smoking, sparks etc. Do I just remove the compression bands and wiggle off ?

Here are some pics of latest efforts. Painted one side of the inside panels I removed blue today, no pic yet. Supposed to be over 21 degrees but I did it anyway at 12 or so. Supposed to rain all week so what the heck.

Mayhem over the front dash. Couple of bolts need cutting.

A nice mess under the gas tank.

Some more progress pics.

Both sides are off now, this was taken before that was achieved.

Who here has redone all or some of their wiring ?? That is on the menu too.

I have redone all the wiring on both boats.

I have done it from scratch, and I have done it the easy way. Bought a predone harness on fleabay.

Guess what I would absolutely positively beyond all shadow of a doubt buy a premade harness again. It was $30 and worth every plug nickle. I am unsure Iboats may sell a premade harness.

Definitely replacing the foam with something appropriately rated, haven't scoped it out yet but apparently home depot has some sort of pink sheeting. Thanks for the replies guys, will definitely check out the harnesses.

Here goes pics with comments and questions .

Gas tank out , nice mess , need a new filter for my shop vac, bought the wrong size

Gas tank out along with front dash, finally , had to dremel out a couple of bolts.

Some purple epoxy ? resin ? type stuff at front. Would this be from original manufacture or a previous owner ?

Okay, now some questions about my wiring to the throttle area

The red lines, are they controlling forward and reverse ??

I need to know if they should be replaced before putting the sides back up after the floor is done. They are cracked a lot. My neighbour says the red is protecting a steel cable , is that true ? What are the names of these cables ? Sorry, no manual.

Are these the harnesses referred to earlier ??

When I put her back together some day ( HA , Ha ! ) , is there some way to tidy it up as it travels the length of the boat to the engine??

Haven't found gluvit here in Canada, will look for a similar product. Waiting for my buddy with some aluminum bracket ideas for the seats but will still be doubling up like dozer11. Want to put 3 or 4 extra stringers on. \ Maybe one piece of aluminum all the way across the seating area side to side to put some forces on the sides when needed.

Gonna power wash tomorrow and get it cleaned up on the bottom to check out the rivet situation. Can somebody tell me the difference between pop rivets and blind rivets ?? Which ones do I need where ? Thanks in advance.

Those red cables will be the remote control throttle and shift cables if you look close at them over there length you should be able to find the part numbers and then order them. I got a set for my Yamaha 90 for about $70. if I remember right. Wiring on the dash is pretty simple you can make a harness pretty easy, GA boater posted up a generic picture for someone else a while back, he may stop by.

Thanks for that link dozer11. It's only 2 hrs away, I may be able to get somebody from my bay of quinte fishing board to pick it up for me or shipping probably isn't too bad.

That electrical non metallic tubing is blue as well, goes with the theme of 10 different shades of blue going into this boat !! Thanks low277.

Most of us, Shag. When you get close to re-wiring we'll give you plenty of help.

Here is the link to some wiring FAQs - http://forums.iboats.com/electrical...how-tos-other-helpful-information-583533.html

The generic wiring was from the link above. I noticed that Silvertip's diagrams are gone because they were used for commercial purposes without his permission. An outstanding resource gone. They were the best!
