i have an alpha one gen 2 drive and i have to pull it due to needing to pull the motor. the way i understand it, all i need to do is pull the six nuts and it should all slide out. my questions are, one, does the drive shaft come out with it, and two, do i need to drain the drive before i pull it. also one last thing where do you unhook the shift linkage?? i have tried to download the manual, but i am using a mac book and i do not have a right click button and i dont know how to get it to work. any help would be great.

Shift into full fwd, remove the trim rams, disconnect the speedo hose, 6 mounting nuts , pull straight back.
shaft and drive come out as a unit.

When u pull the drive the shift cable will stay atatched to the gimble. you wont have to disconnect it at the out drive

Worked for me. Saved it!

Click on the box that says "Sterndrive Units Alpha One Generation II".

Re: First time pulling the outdrive

For as hard as most things are on I/O's to get to or remove it is amazing how easy the outdrive appears to come off. I haven't had a chance to try it myself but I have removed the lower unit to replace the impellar.

Would it be smart to buy a new rubber gasket and oring anytime the outdrive is removed?
