Hello everyone,
I'm looking for my first boat and have found a 1995 Invader 180 Bow Rider. The salesman said it is made in indiana.

130 hp Volvo I/O

It is in good shape other than cosmetics, which I am rather looking forward to working on.

Has anyone heard of this thing? It looks just like a nice Bayliner, but should I be concerned that it is not as well known? I couldn't even find one on ebay.

Also, any input on the Volvo? I am used to fixing nearly all mechanical problems with my autos myself. Can I expect this trend to continue to the boat?

Hoping to join the ranks as a boat owner soon,

Mike

Mike:

Invader Boats are built in Canada (Manitoba) so they are not as well known in the US. Here's a link to their site, where they also have a link for information on boats built before 1996.

www.invaderboats.com

Mike,

I bought a 1985 Invader boat 5 years ago and it has been great. No problems at all. Has been a wonderful all purpose family boat.

Don't know if mine was built by the American firm that went out of business or the Canadian firm.

Can't really give you any advice on the Volvo motor. Mine is an Evinrude outboard. I don't know the first thing about inboards. Maybe post that as a separate question on the "inboard" forum.

Good luck.

Brew
