Thanks for the info. I will study it today and get the pics online as soon asap. Also thanks for removing the second thread.
Also , I have three boats on www.shareproject.com.
The first boat will be " FRANKENBOAT " the second will be "THE KIDS BOAT " and the last boat is the " 1990 MARIAH " . I just bought this boat last fall so I could get it ready for this summer (2010).

Re: First Timer

My son , Chad , happy to help clean out the mess that came with the boat. As we cleaned out the trash I would a soft spot in the floor ( oops the deck )just behind the drivers seat. For this year I plan to rebuild the engine and get it back in the water for the summer so the kids can have fun.

DSC00334.jpg

As I get better with this site , I plan to share my story and plans with all three of the boats I have and lots of pics. I welcome any and all help you can give. Thanks

The engine/sunpad needs to be rebuilt. The engine that came with the boat was bad. More pics to come on the engine. Does anyone know how I can support the sunpad up without using those gas lift shock?

Re: First Timer

Ok. Time for the engine. I found this boat on Criagslist . It was for sale for $300. I was looking for a good family boat to take the kids to the lake tubing and camping. The boat had a 4.3L Mercrusier and I was told it was locked up. That's ok with me because I have 4--4.3L blocks that I can rebuild. As you will see , the engine was worse then locked. I will start the pics with pulling the engine to find out what happen to it.

Out comes the 4.3L

What a mess to clean up

On the ground , so lets take a look.
DSC00369.jpg

I think I found what happened. I feel it throw a rod. Look at the oil pan.

P.S. When I removed the water pump you could put your finger through the water port and into the number 2 cyl. It also dropped a valve.

Re: First Timer

Well, While I had the engine out I thought I would check out the rear deck and clean the bilge. I found a soft shot and a few holes where the battery box goes. I will put some fiberglass over these parts of the deck for now. I will planing on rebuilding all of the deck in a year or two.

Re: First Timer

The best part of our project. The Engine. The engine is out of a 1995 Chevy Blazer. It is a 4.3l roller cam and has a balance shaft. This will smooth out the running of this engine. I love this part and I should have a few more pics of the engine. Here goes , I hope you will enjoy. This is the block out of the machine shop. I had it bored 30 over and std on the crankshaft. Everything else is new. I also purchased a marine camshaft and marine gasket as well.

Well spring is in the air and it's getting warm outside. Time to move the engine outside and start to build it.

This is a balance shaft engine and it should run smooth. Will see.The edelbrock intake clears the balance shaft by about 3/4 of a inch.

Coming together . More pics on the way.
