that's what I use...actually I agree, mine stays in auto mode mostly...hard to find a better value...320 pixels on a 5" diagonal screen is quite adequate...I won't upgrade till I'm ready to spend big bucks for color & integrated gps. <br /><br />Stay away from the less than $100 units - they function well enough but they're really more like children's toys than actual grown-ups' toys. IMHO.<br /><br />As far as catching big fish...got a few in the 5 to 7 lb range, and one really big carp, must have been close to 20 (released without putting it in the boat). But I'm still workin on it!

<br /><br />If you're fishing for largemouth bass, or any shallow water (< 15 or 20ft) fish really, it'll be more of a "fish habitat finder" - but for schooling fish in deeper water, you can catch the fish you see on the screen.
