Re: fish well full on water
I have a 1996 Trophy model 2002 WA which I trailer. I have the boat under cover, but water still managed to blow under and fill up fish boxes. I use my fishboxes more for storage and icechests for fish. I got tired of everything I stored getting wet and having to pump them out everytime I wanted to use the boat. I went to auto parts store, bought a 3/4 inch "tee" and installed it in the fishbox drain line just before it goes into the pump. Both fish box drain lines Y into one hose before going to the pump. This is the hose I cut into. The tee I bought has a treaded cap on one of the tees. With the cap off, the fishboxes drain right into the bilge and out the bilge drain when on the trailer. If I get overspray or am out in the rain, the fishboxes drain into the bilge and the automatic bilge pump takes care of it. If necessary for any reason, I cap the tee and any water will will remain in the fishboxes until I pump it out. As a safety precaution, I purchased an extra tee and wire tied it to the hose next to the tee I installed. This acts as a "holder" for the cap when the line is open so it is not misplaced and always where I need it should I need to close off the drain line. That means I also have a back up cap in my tool box. I make sure all my boating buddies know what the set-up is should they ever have to cap the line they know where it's located and where to find the cap. This has not stopped water from getting in, but now it does not accumulate in the boxes. I tried different gaskets and foam tape, but nothing worked and it will gaskets will get nasty after a while. I still get water in the fishboxes, but only the 1/2" or so that is below the drain in the box. I built mats and put in to keep items up out of the little water that does stay in the bottom and have been happy with the "fix". Hope this helps.
