What do you guys think this vessel is worth? It is priced at $3600 with 115 Mariner, salt water trolling motor, trailer included.... and here are some pics below. Any of you know what year this boat was made?

Thanks a million... i've searched and searched and can't find this boat or a price anywhere.

Re: Fisher 18'3" center console

what I gave is really all that I have as it will be an "arms length transaction"

I thought someone may have the boat and know what year make or model this is and if it was worth the asking price.

It is 18ft and 3in though, Aluminum V-hull.....

well if the seller would not give the serial number of the motor, so i can find out what year it is, and if parts are still available, and the HIN of the stern of the boat. he would not be getting any money from me.

it is a very nice and well maintained boat. i would think it is in the right price range. but if i were buying would want to know more. and would definately want a 1 hour test drive.

I haven't asked him yet.... trying not to seem too interested until i know more about the price range. I thought someone may know the boat from the picture given above.

What sort of things should i be looking for on a test drive as I'm an unexperienced in this facet of life ;) Hull leakage, quick startup, idling smoothly, accelerating smoothly......

It is in great shape. But just like stated above without the numbers off the motor or boat its going to be hard. Why dont you just ask the owner the year?

well without the info, i am not commiting. it could very well be worth $3,600. but it also be one of those Mariners that parts are hard to get. which would drop the value tremendously.

Buying a boat

1st you need to decide what you want to use it for, fishing, cruising, or water sports.

2nd how many people adults, children you want on board of the average outing.

3rd outboard, inboard-outboard, or inboard power plant.

4th Budget, what you want to pay, and what you are willing to pay, when you find
Exactly what you want.

You can hire a marine surveyor, to inspect the boat, or you can do it yourself.

You are mainly looking for soft spots in the deck, transom, cracks, all signs of a rotten, under frame.

The motor should be clean, no spots where the paint is discolored, or pealing from heat, having run hot. Compression should be atleast 100psi, and within 10% of each other,
Spark on all cylinders, good pee stream, check lower unit for water in oil.

The overall condition of the boat will tell you a lot, as to how it has been maintained.

A 30 year old boat motor combo, may be in better condition, than a 3 year old

also get atleast a 1 hour test drive.

just found out that the boat has been a Sheriff's cruiser for years and years.... probably not the best boat to purchase. :(

that would not stop me. you just have to check it out. as i said above, properly maintained motors can be better than a new one abused.
