fishfinder pinging through fm stereo

My fishfinder is pinging through the fm stereo, when fishfinder is turned off it goes away. With a CD in the stereo it does not happen. Does this mean that an in-line filter on the 12v will not help? If the stereo reception/antenna is picking this up is there any cure? I went to Radio Shack and a stereo shop and did not get any answers. If anybody has run into this I would greatly appreciate advice.

My Eagle will ping the stereo on a weak but listenable station. The locator, stereo, and antenna are located within a foot of each other. Nothing you can do about it except relocate the antenna, or try some shielding on the locator transducer cable. I haven't tried to isolate mine because it is only a problem on weak stations.

There are a number of power filters that should be able to reduce this. It is most likely ground noise tha can be fltered with the correct value caps and inductors. Try searching for radio noise filters.

Try running either one of the units on its own battery to see if it is getting through on the power.
