hi everyone,in may of this year i bought a 1996 14ft speed boat made by a firm called fletcher.the model i have is a arrowflyte.it has quite a deep 'v' hull.the ob is a 60 hp merc 1996.i use the boat in the sea in winds 14 mph or less.i now fancy fitting 2 fishing rod holders to the rear of the boat.do you think this type of boat will be okay to fish from inshore.the boat has 2 seats facing to to the front and rear.

Any floating boat will do fine for fishing, but i think when you anchor the boot, put it out from the front-center, so your deep-V hull will be against the waves to give the boat max. stability. Good fishing...Photo's from the boat will give you better responce on this threat

When ever you ut a fishing rod or rod holder on a boat it changes from a speed boat to a fishing boat.J

I knew a guy who fished from an 8' hydroplane.
There was only enough room for a six pack and bait!

It really is not all that simple.
The difference between a speed boat and a fishing rig is in stability.A speed boat gains stability through speed.A fishing rig is stable enough to walk around in even laying still in 3 to 4 foot waves.
As a work platform your speed boat will be close to useless. If you expect to just be in quiet waters with fish no bigger that 20 inches you will be fine.Anything beyond that will cause you trouble

I've seen guys on the bay with kyacks fishing.

Seen people on inner tubes fishin.

Saw a guy on a surf board near SI fishing.

All you need is a stick and a hook and some bait.

Upstate ny we ran out of bait so i took the pop top off a soda can and my son caught fish with that shiny metal above the hook nothing else.

Survival training they taught us to hook a line to a tree branch over a river or a lake with just a hook and a worm.
