Fishing in winter with inboard

Does anyone know if you can use inboard through the winter months.And also how to care for it.Just bought 1993 21foot searay laguna center console with cuddy nice boat but the down fall is that it has an inboard.So thats why i was wondering if i could still use in winter.Anybody Anybody thanks for any reply

Your location will determine what you have to do to use the boat in the winter. You can use it anytime the water is liquid or in the deep South anytime. If in the North then you have to care for the cooling system, if river water cooled then you will need to either drain the block or have a bilge heater to keep it from freezing. Where I am I can boat 12 months out of the year and only drain my block if a freeze is predicted, of course most of the time it does not freeze long enough to do damage, just better safe.

Ayuh,... Then you'll have to Drain All the water out of it, At the Ramp...
Doing so, will allow you to fish right up til the boat on it's trailer will No longer crash through the Ice at the launch...

I've been doing it for Years,...
My personal Latest boatin' adventure was 1-6-06 in the St. Lawrence River at the 1000 Islands bridge...
The 1,+ Only time I've been boatin' in January.....

The ten minute ride home, probably isn't enough for anything to freeze, but I sure wouldn't want to chance it. All it has to do is get a little slushy, then it won't drain.

Go drain it now, before it gets TOO cold. The first time will take a while, some of the hoses will be a little stubborn. The next time, you should be able to do it in 5-10 minutes.

I fish as long as the water is open. The only thing I would add is to lower your outdrive at the the ramp to drain it along with the engine.
Practice the draining a few times take the tools with and drain at the ramp. Good luck fishing.
