While trolling at lake pinecrest on day I have two friends and my self trolling one rod down the middle of the boat and the other two out to the side each using side planers and all rods have flashers and small spinners. We are all 100 ft our more behind the boat there is another boat troll behind us when he desides to turn behind me and cut all three of us off. He didnt even look our way as he kept fishing and we all had to set up again after we all lost our equipment.

That is definetely NOT the way to make friends.
Some people are so oblivious to others.
I would have words with him...that's for sure!

We had the very same thing happen to us when the boat cut between us and the shoreline. We were only about 20 yards off the shore and there was 3 miles of water behind us but the guy chose to ride the shoreline. There must have been 10 boats fishing and he cut us all off.

I was screamin mad about the lack of consideration.

Damn tourists. ;) :D

Re: Fishing mishap

Years ago, there were a couple of regulars on the party boat my father used to take me out on who would "fast troll" off the stern. one day they had a guy riding in the propwash while they were trolling, and they kept trying to wave him off, but he stayed there and they all lost their rigs. One of them gets the bright idea to tie two 5-gallon pails together with about 30' of line, and he and another guy dropped it off opposite sides of the stern...

Wireline is a great teacher to people who are inconsiderate. It does not snap like mono.I once taught a serious lesson to a jetflea by attaching a small piece of floating rope with a clump of about 400 feet of 50 pound wireline that was to be discarded. At the fifth run within forty feet of our dock the nasty bast@rd sucked it into his intake. We did not see him back that vacation.

Re: Fishing mishap

Around these parts, we are rolling our eyes at guys who are trolling 100 behind their boats! Some salmon openers can be way too crowded on a good day, and so people use divers to get the trolling gear deep enough without running too far out behind the boat.

there are trolling areas and there are mooching areas, and never the twain should meet!
