Need the name of a good [state registered ] guide to go with on a musky and or pike fishing trip near Kenosha Wisc. Will be visiting my daughter the first week of June and need to let wife and daughter go shopping while I go fishing for a day or possibly two of good fishing. What are the going rates in that area? nevjb

Well, the lake that comes to mind is Pewaukee (pee-wa-key) Lake. It is one of the best musky lakes in southern WI. It is located approx 20 miles due west of Milwaukee.

This is not the northwoods wilderness that covers half of the state of WI. It is a highly developed urban area, there are several other musky lakes within 25 miles of Pewaukee, many of them are more secluded.

Here is a website from THEE local musky bait shop.
http://www.smokeysmuskieshop.com/rapidcat/catalog/pagetemplate. cfm?CompanyId=1196&CFID=5032226&CFTOKEN=62065443

And here is the webpage with the local guides listed:
http://www.smokeysmuskieshop.com/rapidcat/ catalog/pagetemplate.cfm?template=/RapidCat/common/viewPage.cfm&PageId=1754&CompanyId=1196

While I can't personally recommend any of the guides, most on the list sound familiar to me, from local tv, and print media.

Looks like its gonna run $30-$40 per hour, plus license. Most guides charge "per group", not per person. So if you have someone that wants to come along, it won't cost any more money. Some guides may be willing to pair you up with another single angler, so you can split the cost.

Pewaukee is a great musky and walleye lake. However it is FILLED with idiot jet skiers and speed boats flying around all day long. And since the lake is basically just a giant oval there isnt really anywhere to go to get away from the waves. Thats why I only fish that lake at night.
A better lake about 10 miles West of Pewaukee is Okauchee lake. Its bigger than Pewaukee and has tons of bays and a few channels. And 2 miles west of that is my personal favorite Lac La Belle. Its a greenish lake that is mostly rock and sand.

Guys, I was forewarned about Pewaukee? and opted for Ocauchee ? and Oconamowoc.? The spelling and pronunciation is impossible for me with these Indian ?? names. Thanks for the help. nevjb

Okauchee would be my #1 choice. I'd stay away from Oconomowoc lake. Its not terrible.. but doesnt seem to offer much shore structure

I live pretty close to all of the above lakes and by far like Okauchee the best.
