Fitting a small set of hydrofoils to my Force 40 - where is the best location? Should it be above the prop? As far aft on the cav plate as possible? Or what? Motor is fitted on a 4mtr Rib, and I simply want to improve the hole shot when towing tubers & kneeboarders.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Take a peek at this one, it might give you an idea. The "DoleFin" was originally for a slightly smaller outboard but it has done well for me for many years now. Fit it rear, on top of the cavitation plate.
Ross

Re: Fitting Hydrofoils

Thanks for your input RJ, your pic shows the fins mounted as far aft as poss. On my motor, the length of the cav plate looks a lot longer in relation to the size of the LU, and the fins are way aft of the prop if mounted at this position. If I don't get any other input, then I'll start off with the aft position, and try it on the water to see wot it's like. I'm just not overkeen on drilling multiple sets of holes thru a pristine cav plate to experiment with different positions.
Forgot to mention - its a 'gull wing' type hydrofoil, not a flat 'un - would that make a difference?

Bill

Sorry sport, I don't know anything about the Gull Wing type. You'll need other advice there.
Ross
