fitting remote controls to 9.9

Hi new here and to boats in general. Have managed to acquire a 14ft boat and later a 9.9 motor. the boat has a cuddy cab and has been used with remotes, and I would like to fit more. Cost is an issue but what I really don't understand is what prevents the throttle end of the cable just coming off the throttle "pin" under the cover.

Now I'll show my ignorance futher where do I find the engine No's found C0036560 on the engine block plug, 318927 just below fly wheel(part no ) I guess. Best I can say is it says its a seahorse 9.9.
