think i finally figured it out now. another post with similar problem was the culprit. the cam roller for the timing advance had broken (plastic) and fallen out so there was enough slack that it cant push the timing far enough forward (hence the 2500 max rpm) with more advance- more rpm. am going to make a metal bushing instead of plastic so will last longer .will let yo know if it fixes when get to lake and test.thanks for yalls help again.
