good old johnson8) cant beat em i have an 1987 johnson 70 hp the vro is ,unhooked great motor they seem to be bullet proof you made the right choice

Did the splines on crankshaft get damged , on the merc.

There may be more damage then you know yet.

Or have you checked it out ??

Just curious, as to the overall damage .

My first motor when I was 10 , was a 6 hp johnson.

Had a bunch since, and a couple mercs.

I'll stick with Johnnyrude.

I have removed the powerhead and checked the spline and it looks and feels good.
considering the motor was still running after the crash i am thinking it did not shock the motor much.
i have not started since the crash due to no water pump anymore.
I think it may go to e-bay

the motor i have is a 1978 . the power head is locked up so the foot should be ok .tried to take the prop off without dammag . it will have to be heated or cut off . could ship you the foot . or sell the motor to some one half way and the could make a trip up there and come down here and pick up the foot or the whole motor
