after a bit of digging on the brp site i seem to have 1984 carbs on a 1989 engine which makes me think that the stalling when opening the throttles in gear is somewhat related the carbs are off a 75hp so i think the jets will be wrong question is what are the correct jets for a 89 70hp vro? anyone know the no's for the pilot, intermediate and main? all help gratefully recieved!!

Hey landy.....I think I would post a little more.....compression good, last time carbs got an overhaul, link and sync good, spark all there? If it worked before you got it, maybe something other than the wrong carbs.

Interesting on the carbs....in 89 there was a late model carb and early model carb. The early production carb used a 65D HS jet. The late production model used a 52D HS jet. Now it get better....in 84 the high speed jet for both the 70 and 75 were 52D jets.

Again, look and make sure all other "things" are good to go before charging the carbs.

OBJ's right again. Basically the carbs are calibrated (passages and jetting) for the amount of air that flows thru them at a given rpm. Not by what hp the motor is that they're on. Drastically different jetting on carbs that appear similar is not unusual nor is it wrong.

ooops sorry should have been clearer! motor always did this according to the previous owner indeed i remember it doing it two years ago when he bought the boat. the carbs have been rebuilt with genuine kits, link and sync to the manual, carbs balanced, timing set, everything the shop could do has been done.it was a throwaway comment by a friend that led me to do some digging thats where i find out thet the carbs were changed at some point in the past. all thats differerent is the intermediate jet should be a 42 instead of a 33. these are on order know so they should be here next week so i will keep you all osted as to the results
