Fixing motor tilt switch on throttle handle

I have a 1997 Bayliner Capril 17' that the wiring for the motor tilt rusted and fell out. I cannot figure out how to take the throttle off so I can get into the rocker switch and put the wire back in. I had to install a rocker panel elsewhere on my boat in order to tilt up my outboard motor....but I like having it where my thumb is! There is a little allen screw on the bottom but still the throttle handle won't budge. Is there a "trick of the trade?" I don't know about? Please help! Thanks.

Thanks for your reply. No idea. I just assumed everything was made by Bayliner.

I have a 1989 Bayliner Capri. The trim/tilt is mounted on tha dash - I've always hated that - but I cannot figure out how to take the throttle apart. There is a little plastic cover on the throttle where the switch would go - I thought a could mount a switch in there - but cannot get it apart.

I think mine came from the factory with the switch on the dash. There are labels (trim up / trim down) next to the switch that matches all the other text on the dash. I bought the boat used in 1992.

I did add a second trim switch on the engine housing itself. It is very convenient when trailering or beaching the boat.

I have the same exact problem on a 1996 Bayliner Capri 1950. Its got a factory installed throttle assembly with separate trim and trailer switches on the arm. I narrowed down my problem with the trim not working to these switches but cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the handle to replace them. Do you have unscrew something from the backside of the assembly? Any help is appreciated!
