Flakes of rust inside freeze plugs

Its been several years since i have posted here or worked in rebuilding my Chevy 350, but i gound some time today to get the last pueces if the engine stripped off. I took the freeze plugs out too because i was going to have the blocked boiled and cleaned to remove the small patcges if rust. When i removed the freeze plugs there were literally flakes of rust looking stuff falling out. I am not sure if the block is still good now; what do you guys think.

I forgot how to upload photos so if someone can remind me how i will post of photo.

For a fellow SoCal guy, of course.

Click on the 'go advanced' button then look for the 'paper clip' icon which is just to the right of the smiley face;it should say 'attachments'. Click on that.

Then in the next window up at the top right you will see the 'add files'; click on that.

Then click on 'select files' then browse to the location of the file. There are limits on size of the files.

91 @ Serfas Club is my area. We've been here since '92; wife lived out this way since late 70's.

I'm not an engine guy so can't comment on the picture but nice to have a new IBOATS neighbor.

You're in California, I assume you use the boat in the Pacific. That rust is normal for a saltwater engine....

Totally normal. Considering the thickness of cast blocks, there is still lots of good material in that engine. Have it boiled out and rebuild...
