the flappers in exaust tube are broken off and need replaced, but because of the corrosion arond the tube i can't tell what type of bolts/screws hold the brackets to the tube. they are worn to the point that they almost look like pop rivets.probably need to be drilled out to remove the old brackets.
are they reusable or do the replaements come with new brackets.1982 -140 mercruiser
thanks to all for your help.

Re: flappers worn out

You got the pieces out.

In my humble opinion you don't need no stikin flapper.

What did you do look down the tube after you pulled the riser?

Re: flappers worn out

one side was still attatched to the bracket, the other side gone, someware down the exaust (and yes i did look down the pipe with a flashlight, couldn't see anything).
i bought a replacement , it has one strip of metal down the center of the two flaps but it doesn't have the pieces that attatch to the walls of the exaust tube. probably not the correct type of flapper?
