Flat bottomed concave go fast pontoons

My neighbor has a pontoon boat built in 1991 that has the most interesting pontoons. He calls them "run fast" pontoons because the 2 pontoons are squared at the edges, the fronts curve under and then as I stooped to look at the bottoms of the pontoons, they are actually concave. If you looked at the pontoons from the back each looks like a wide W, no fooling. Even on the trailer, there are 4 skids total, 2 for each pontoon, and each pair of skids are leaning in opposite directions to support these strangely shaped W pontoons. I'm thinking of buying it, but I can't find these anywhere on the net and my neighbor is out of pocket. Does anyone have info on these? He said it was custom built and cost a lot of $$, but wondering if these were mass produced. Believe me, I've checked EVERY site on the net for the last 2 hours. I think I should post pics this wkend and buy it! I think it's rare! Hes got a 150 Mercruiser on it and he says it hauls rear end.

Welcome to iboats.

Smoker made something like that, don't know if they still do but they were really different like that.

Had to be a real pian to build and expensive, I have never actually seen one in person, only on the computer.
