I just found this board and thought I'd share some pics of my current project. It is Ken Hankinson's Flats Flyer, with a few modifications. I have added sponsons to the transom for additional flotation and have built recessed tabs in to the bottoms of them.<br /><br />Assembling frames.<br />

<br /><br />Planking almost finished.<br />

<br /><br />Glass done. <br />

<br /><br />Paint finished. <br />

<br /><br />Ready to flip.<br />

<br /><br />Hull flipped and on the trailer. <br />

Heck of'a job!<br /><br />Like the pictures on your site, but I like the captions on pages 5 and 6 even better (the captions all refer to family album stuff).

It isn't my first boat. A couple of years ago I built a s&g skiff that can be seen in the background. <br /><br />I haven't had a chance to edit the verbage on pages 5&6 yet. This is a free template and the example was a family reunion page. <br /><br />Thanks for all the positive comments.

Kewl! That boat is slicker than snot on a door knob...! Excellent work! <br /><br />Curious as to what "stock lumber" was used for the frames, battens, ect.???

SB, all the frames are cypress, the plywood is Aquatek marine mahogany. One layer of 3/8" on the sides, 2 layers of 1/4" on the bottom. The transom is 2 layers of 3/4" ACX.

great job on a great looking boat. where did the plans come from? i've always had the itch to build a ground up boat and this one looks promising.

Nice work Casey. How many hours build time? Did you like Hankinson's plans? He's been around a long time designing ply boats.

Bill, I've worked probably 3 out of 4 weekends since last November. Sometimes it's just for an hour or so, but I've kept at it. I love Ken's plans. These were wonderfully thorough and everything came together as planned. The only troubles I've had were pulling the chines around to the bow. That took some serious horsing to get them in. <br /><br />crab bait, loa will be 20', beam will be 8', weight somewhere in the 1100lbs range, without motor. <br /><br />I won't go do far as to call it a "she" yet. Not until I christen it. It will, however, float, so I do call it a boat.
