Fleetwin working - need reassurance though....

Well, the new coil is in and the engine is running good - so well that it nearly tore off the wood mount I had fabricated at the end of the pier - talk about a scary moment - thought it was going in the drink!
I am just nervous about that flywheel - I am pretty darn sure I got it seated right as it would not go down over the woodruff key if it was not in the right place...right? And I am sure I got the torque up to about 45ftlbs - just that when running I hear a tick now and then - might be something loose in there or, might be a misfire as I have not gotten the adjustment right?
Just how common is the problem with the flywheel being loose, slipping etc? You got me nervous.

If the flywheer went on, sat down & torqued properly, you're most likely fine.

If it were in the wrong position (re: the keyway), the unit wouldn't run properly.

if you think for a minute that something might be loose under the flywheel, pull it off again and check everything. have a close look at the taper on the crankshaft for even light surface rust, and chech the taper for the same in the flywheel. if there is even a light skim of rust, clean it off, reassemble, torque it down, run it up to operating temps, then recheck the torque. then you should be good to go.
