Flex steering

I have thru tube teleflex steering on my boat, but the geometry from the end of the cable bar to the engine( tiller bar?) looks wrong and i have no other boat to compare it with. are there any pics or site that i could find the correct on boat set up. i think my arm on the engine to tiller bar is incorrect and may have been originally for two cable steering.

Simply unhook the drag link, center the steering wheel, center the outboard. The distance from the cable end to the correct hole in the steering arm of the outboard is the correct length of the drag link.<br /><br />You're probably on the right track in thinking its the wrong drag link.<br /><br />Good luck!

thanks, i will try this.<br />but should the drag link appear almost in parrallel with the pivot tube,except for the slight shoulder in it, as mine points inboard and up as it reaches toward the engine steering arm, thus it seems to make the cable bar drag fromside to side within the pivot tube.

pwgun,<br /><br />It should be close to parallel, but not quite. Do you have more than one mounting hole in the engine tiller arm?<br /><br />The link may also be on backwards. That won't change the length, but it will change the angle.

It goes into the hole closest to the motor if there is more than one hole in the steering arm.

dhadley, it has two holes and it is presentley bolted to the one nearest engine.<br /><br />djohns-backwards? it is dark outside where i am so i will check in the morning, but from my minds eye i cannot see how it could go backwards. presently the hole end of the drag link is bolted under the hole in the steering arm, and the pointing down threaded bolt end is going thru the hole in the end of the cable rod.
