:eek:hello all i recently bought a 15 foot tri-hull (not the greatest for wakeboarding i know),i bought it mainly for fishing, anyways would like to be able to pull the kids around in a tube and occasionaly wakeboard,im not even worried about getting any air,cuz i know tri hulls dont make a big enough wake to do so,i was reading about some people not reccomending this for a 15' boat saying it will flip, like i said im a wakeboard noob so im not gonna be whipping around the side of the boat trying to get alot of speed, should i be concerned

Ummmm...no. You won't flip that boat by simply towing a wakeboarder, if that's what you're asking. No matter HOW strong the wakeboarder is. Have fun.

And as for needing a big wake to do big jumps, BS. You only need good technique to do big jumps. Some of the best riders can do complete flips in wide open water...no wake needed at all. This video has been posted up here before, but it's of Scott Byerly in his younger days, doing massive air tricks behind a barefoot/slalom boat (AKA a nearly NO WAKE boat)

This may be true for a professional rider (or at least a very good one) but your average beginner is not going to be able to do much without a decent wake.

You'll be able to practice getting up, carving around and doing spins, but once you're ready to start jumping, you'll definitely want a wake. Not saying you need a giant one though, so you might be just fine with what you've got. Flip the boat???....no

Give the guy some credit - I think maybe he's referring to putting a TOWER on the boat and maybe flipping it. But even then, I would say no. Personally, I wouldn't put a tower on a 15' boat though, I think it would look a little funny. Maybe try a wakeboarding pole or something that breaks down really small? To be fair, you don't NEED a high pull point at all - just pull from the ski bar or the transom and have fun!

My 2nd boat was a 15 foot trihull. I had a homemade pylon as well. It was awesome to tube and wakeboard behind. I would say I had the experience where I thought my current 16 foot larson was going to get pulled into the water because I turned too sharp pulling two tubes at the same time-with an Insanity pylon. But couldn't imagine this ever being the case pulling at the ski rings. You want a wake, have people stand in the front on the hole shot, then move everyone to the back of the boat, trim the motor up so the front end stays up a bit and you will have a nice wake to try your stunts. I know I had goals of doing the stuff I saw on internet videos, but never made it past the jumping the wake stage.
