Float adjustment on fuel tank sending unit

The top seal on my fuel tank sending unit was not tight. I added a thicker gasket and larger screws and now the seal is tight and not leaking. However, my fuel guage only registers 3/4 when the tank is really full. Is there an adjustment to the rod I could make to make the sending unit register correctly the amount of fuel in the tank. Would I bend the rod? Also, I think there is power to the sending unit. Disconnecting the power before making adjustments would be in order to avoid any sparks, right?

The float works on a resistance to ground, you'll not have any 12v+ there, only negative ground, right bondoo?

Better than reading 1/4 tank when your empty.

I'd recommend just disconnect the battery at ground before you do anything. Even though there's no real power to the fuel sender while the motor is off you never know when you might touch something that's alive or whatever.
All it takes is a wave at the docks or a kid coming by to see what you are up to!

Hey, you must be talking about my boat. 3/4 on the gauge equals 1/2 and 1/4 on the gauge equals paddle or tow.
