Have a 2012 evinrude 6hp 4 stroke! The carb is flooding! Removed the carb but cannot remove the pin to remove float and needle! Pin is not rusted, just won’t slide out! If I really got serious, I could probably really put some muscle to it but could also destroy things! I feel foolish asking this, but Is there something special about this carburetor ? The evinrude has a Tohatsu sticker on it!

I’m not familiar with your exact carb but I have come across my fair share of stuck pins. I usually grab and end with vice grips and spin it free. If that doesn’t work back one side of it with a well fitting socked and us a drift punch. If you should by chance scar the pin put the good end in a drill chuck and spin it in some fine sand paper so smooth the pin out. 220 or higher paper.

float pins stick because of varnish.. I recently rebuilt a set of CB500/4 carbs which had fuel left in it since 1986. I had to cut the floats off and boil the carbs in a light concentration of lemon juice. Then I was able to pull the pins..

Little bit of heat may work.. BTW, the little 4 stroke 'rudes were built by Tohatsu, but Suzuki before that. Mercury, Nissan, Evinrude and Tohatsu all were basically the same at that time

Yes, did a little bit of research and found that Tohatsu started making 15hp and down Evinrudes in 2011. Mine is a 2012. Should make it easy to get parts —-if needed!

Reference is to the pin in the float arm? Lightly tap it out with a punch, alternating ends. A spray of carb cleaner might be useful.
