Serving alcohol to boaters on the water is no different than setting up a bar at your local Interstate rest area. Ain?t ga happen.

You've obviously never been to Louisiana. Here's a video clip and a little write up of a guy buying a gallon daiquiri at one of the thousands of DRIVE THRU daiquiri shops around here. I couldn't believe it when I first moved here.

There are three of these on the "Parker Strip" on the Colorado River:

This is RoadRunner which is the most popular these days. There is some sort of AZ code that allows these floating bars. The boxy looking awning thing floats but is attached to the foundation of the main building. You cannot take Alcohol on or off of a boat, and you cannot take Alcohol onshore. You can see the red fenders where we tie up. Literally bar stools are three steps from the fenders, you can see a guy in blue on the stools just in front of the red boat. This place also serves a great breakfast and we often go just in the morning.

I lived in Baton Rouge from 1977-1980. I was an iron worker on municipal water towers for Lafayette, Gramercy and Jeanerette. Built the water tower for the Pineville State Institution and worked on the Salt Dome project down in Hackberry. Other than that I've never been there. :D:D

Saw on the news about a pizza boat that delivered pizzas on a lake. Was a pontoon boat with a pizza oven on it. Did pretty well.

I heard on Fox Lake in IL...that there is a McDonald with a boat drive thru...I would love to see that..anyone with a picture of that???

The bar on the boat idea....insurance nightmare! Imagine one person in the water drowning while intoxicated.... I doubt if Lloyds of London would even touch that!:eek:

I was there, I saw that! I was in Waveland, MS, 3rd week after Katrina. I may even have a picture of that, too. I've got hundreds of pictures from that area.

It's illegal to drive drunk. As I recall it's still leagal to consume alcohol.

Why would selling alcohol at a rest stop be any different then selling it on the corner before you get on the interstate. On alligator alley theres a fuel stop forty miles from any town. The only way in or out is interstate. Downtown theres a drive through liquor store.

Just because you can only get to a bar by boat does not automatically mean your BUI.

We had a local guy selling hotdogs and drinks on the Dead River last year. Guess it didn't pan out but JJ Finn's seems to be doing a booming business!!! It's all about having a good time and respecting those around you. It really doesn't get rowdy out on our local lakes although there is the occasional BUI that hits the papers.

Drinking in a car and drinking on a boat are totally different things. You can not drink in public, unless you are on the water. That is just how the law had tradationally been enforced. All you need is one sober driver. Beers and boats have always mixed, but not beers and cars.

We are lucky to have several marina's on Chickamauga Lake that have most the supplies we need, including beer, ice and snacks.

I've often felt that a floating grill/supplies boat would make a killing in a few of the party coves we go to.

As much of a need as there might be, if I was running it... I wouldn't get to enjoy the lake any longer! Maybe that's why there aren't any here
