1984 25 HP Evinrude is not hitting on lower cylinder. Compression tests good. Has good spark. I was told it could be flooding and when I pulled the plug it did have fuel on it. I rebuilt the fuel pump and it did not help. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Flooding

25 hp is a single carbed motor, so if it were flooding the bottom cylinder it would flood the upper. it sounds like you are loosing spark on the bottom cylinder.

Re: Flooding

Ok. I swapped coils. Put coil from top cylinder on non-hitting bottom cylinder with same results. Top cylinder is fine....bottom cylinder still not hitting. Must not be a bad coil??? Both coils ground out to engine block when plug wires are unplugged from plugs. What now?

Re: Flooding

Someone told me if there is a bad diaphram in the fuel pump it would cause the lower cylinder to flood. Could this be your problem? I know you rebuilt it but I'm not really certain what rebuilt means anymore and what parts would be in the rebuild. Best of luck. Rick.
