I have a 95 Bass Tracker pro17. I am in the process of replacing the floor in the front of the boat. I have removed the existing floor. The boat has aluminum supports which are in fine shape. I have a few questions that maybe I can get answered:

1. The floor measures 5 foot X 4-5 Foot. Since plywood comes in 4x8 sheets, how is this accomplished with no seams?
2. What type of wood should I use? I am reading that pressure treated is not the way to go. Should I use an expoy sealer before carpet installation? If so, any recommendations?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Floor replacement in a tracker bass boat

hi....welcome to i boats...

lots of deck replacment threads on here ....do a search and read the completed projects forum.

ok....as far as pt ply....you have a tinny (alum boat)
tinnys dont like pressure treated wood....the chemicals in the wood cause a galvanic rection in the alum and it eats the alum......this can be over come by placing a thin barrier between alum and the wood.

the standard for decks is exterior grade plywood....cheap and available everywhere.
however the wood needs to be dryed for a while before you use it....even straight from the mill it is still too wet to get a good bond with resin.

there is no such thing as a seamless deck. but what you do is fiberglass the deck together once its in the boat. this will give you waterproofing as well.
you can use epoxy.....but its expencive.

Re: Floor replacement in a tracker bass boat

Having just finished rebuilding my Lund, marine ply is the way to go covered with epoxy than carpet. I did alot of research and there is a big difference between exterior and marine ply. One thing that I learned is don't take short cuts, do it right the first time.....

I have the same issue with my bass tracker Pro 175. The walk area of the floor where my seats are needs to be replaced. I also don’t want seems to show. I am looking to apply durabak non skid on it once it is down. What should be used to hide the seams before I paint the durabak on. I am worried about the corners around the floor. What can I use to seal it from water running down the sides and possibly rotting the side wood next to the floor.
Any suggestions
