Floor replacement

Would you replace a floor in a boat if you were going to sell it in the near future?
The floor isn't soft but the carpet is badly worn. I want to replace the carpet and while I'm at it replace and fiber glass the floor.

Why should I do all this work. Because the boat deserves it. Its in pristine condition for the most part but the carpet seems to be the deal breaker when selling.

Heck I may talk myself in keeping it after the work has been done.

If the deck is not soft - and you are sure of that - why would you replace it?! As you know, replacing the deck is not something you do "while you are at it", it is a labor/time consuming project. Replacing the carpet is easy enough, I would not do any more work than necessary.

On the other hand, if you have doubts about the deck/stringers/transom and you are contemplating restore and keep vs sell, this would be a different issue

I have to agree with DeepBlue. If the actual flooring is indeed totally solid with out any question, then just replace the carpet. But if you think there is an issue and you are contemplating keeping it and restoring it, by all means rip it out and see what else needs attention as well. Your decision!

I pulled the carpet and the wood underneath is solid just aged and old looking. What do you expect for a 1996 boat. Anyway Glassing the floor is time and money. I will replace the carpet. I'm afraid once I replace the carpet I want to keep it and then I wish I glassed the floor. The reason I'm selling it is the family is not interested in boating anymore. That is a whole different conversation. Thank you

I'm confused...Is the existing floor glassed or not? Whats your question? To glass or not to glass? It's solid because....
