From the water I live about a mile or so away from Lake Griffin State Park. By road it's about 3 or 4 miles from my house. Nice park with 40 spaces for tents, camping trailers, RVs. Here is a link to the park website: http://www.floridastateparks.org/lakegriffin/default.cfm
I'm on Lake Griffin or Lake Harris every weekend weather permitting and the Harris Chain provides great leisure and fishing opportunities. The Bass Masters 2009 Season opener is here in the Harris Chain this weekend and a couple of months ago we had the Crappie Masters opening tourney. Here a few pics of Lake Griffin and the Ocklawaha River.
These are just a few of the hundreds of pictures we've captured over the last year. It always puts a smile on my face when we get to race an Eagle in air while we're on the water.
Re: Florida, anyone ever been the Lake Griffin State Park, North of Leesburg
Forgot to add... the Harris Chain is Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Eustis, Lake Dora, and Lake Griffin. If you're adventurous and a speed deamon... you can hit all of them in a day without leaving your boat.
