What are Alum boat manufacturers using ?

I found some square pool noodles, but there' little more expensive than round ones, can also get round ones that have larger inside holes so the reg' noodles can go inside them..

I'd rather have the expanding foam, the Pourable kits aren't enough for my boat, I was looking at a small spraying kit. but need to check into the formula, and if they know what in it, could be causing the corrosion.

...Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in a while...I wandered into wallyworld just as they were marking down their pool noodles for clearance. A buck each for all sizes. My flat bottom (boat..that is) has a 3 stringer system and the 4" noodles fit perfectly between them. Even better they they clear the top of the stringers by a good 1/4" so with the deck in place they are compressed slightly causing a very tight fit. While I was at it, I ran single piece pvc pipe chases through the noodles on both port and starboard sides for all my electrical needs. I used 3m super 77 spray adhesive and 4 " pvc stubs to join the rest of them into continuous sealed noodles from bow to stern. Not one to totally give up on a marginal idea, I stuffed a ping pong ball in the ends of all the noodles excepting the chases and sealed them with the 3m adhesive. Nice clean installation on the cheap!

Lots of questions and perplexed looks both in the store and making my way through the parking lot...I had 2 shopping carts full of the darn things. Have another project in mind so I bought plenty of extras.

On my boat it looks like expanding spray foam of some sort. In my aft storage compartment some of it expanded from the filled compartments into the storage compartment.

On the other hand I've drilled into the bow of an aluminum War Eagle boat to install nav lights, and it looked like they had dropped a pre-shaped block of styrofoam into that one, so I'm guessing it varies.
