I just bought a Bravo 1 prop I found on Craig's list. Beautiful shape (said never run), 22P Part # 48-831910, $100 . . . I am familiar with the Flow Torq II System with the plastic insert thingee and the related hardware. Now to my question, this prop appears to have a stainless equivalent to the plastic center insert. It is jammed tightly into the prop and does look like it might come loose if I banged on it hard enough, although it may be fixed. What system is this? If I used my standard hardware with this it would seem to have no impact damage protection . . .

With the same hub covering a 3.0 alpha to a big block bravo i dont think they do much in the way of impact protection

But just dampen the vibration :)

I have 3 102 hub kits because its next to  to get the insert out on the water if you dammage a blade it wedges into the taper so tight

I am not sure that anwers my question, tom, which is really what hardware, and why the stainless insert? This insert is the same size and shape as the black plastic one that I think you are referring to (wedges into the taper). However, this one is stainless and looks fixed. My biggest concern is the associated hadware. If it is the same, then great, like you I carry spares and it does look like all of the other piecess would work. Here's some pics:

It is the solid hub used for high hp engines. I have seen them for sale, but never used one.

Thanks John. I saw a quick note about high hp prop hubs on Merc's site, but it didn't ellaborate. Pretty cool that I can buy a prop and it bumps my boat's power up . . . Kewl :D

Re: Flow Torq confusion

Some of the higher hp motors (in each line) generate enough exhaust heat to melt the standard hub or standard inserts in short order. I know some dealers who won't sell a standard hub or standard inserts in a prop for any 250 or higher. They don't like to sell them in the direct injected 225's.

Heat? I would have guessed just raw torque would spin the plastic hub.

Re: Flow Torq confusion

We've used the old standard hubbed props on motors for years that were 300+ hp but the new generation of direct injected motors generate a lot of exhaust temp. We had a 250 burn one at the prop shoot-out in less than a mile, probably 1/2 mile. We have a guide with a 225 that can't keep a standard hub for more than about 6-8 miles.
