First of Morning everyone!!!
I have a newbie question here our boat sist in the water 24/7 (Salt Water) and I was wondering, would it be recomended to flush also does it matter if the drive is up or down?
I have a Monterey 262 with a Merc 5.7 and Bravo III. I guess to flush I would just raise the bravo place the muff's & hose and flush away after each use? Should I use something like salt away
As a 100% niewb here I appretiate all your coments, sugestions, education etc etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Flushing Question

If you are keeping in the water flushing will not have much effect. Should be left with drive down for less stress on the bellows.

Why not?

I have been considering doing this as well, and I would think it would flush the engine and manifolds.

Re: Flushing Question

Anyone elsa have a coment? Suggestion? I'm still leaning toward flushing just for my peace of mind, but would like some sustainable info.

Thank you

Re: Flushing Question

Not sure you can get the drive all the way out of the water? You have to make sure you have all fresh water going through to do any good.

How about large pail or bag that you can feed the hose into? Keeps salt out.. and fresh water in.

Once done, turn engine off.. It should be good for the manifolds..t-stat...

Re: Flushing Question

Do not run the engine with the drive tilted all the way up. This puts too much stress on the U-joints of the drive shaft, and will start breaking things.

It is what it is, you have a salt water boat that is kept in salt water. IMHO trying to flush the salt water out is just a waste of time.
