I'm working on a 1979 silverton 31 convertable and had to remove the bridge for transport. I'd like to replace the gasket that goes between the bridge and the roof of the boat, does anyone know where to get a replacement? It looks to be "U" shaped plastic, maybe you buy this on a roll or by the foot?

Re: Flybridge gasket

I doubt your going to find that U shaped plastic gasket.

I think most of the riggers after transport are using 3m 4000 sealant.

Re: Flybridge gasket

He is talking about how to install a Bridge on his cabin top after transporting the boat to a new location .. not windows ;) .

OP .. as long as both mating surfaces are clean ( you would have to do this anyways ) I have also seen silicone used. Might not be a bad Idea if you ever need to remove the bridge again.

Its just a gasket and in only a few places do you need to be sure that water does not fall through where the mounting holes or cable holes are.

If you do plan on using a sealant of some kind .. might I suggest then when installing the bridge you tighten the fasteners to about 75-85% of final torque. Then wait a day or two and then tighten ( the NUTS ONLY ) the rest of the 25-ish %.. If you have to use screws in places .. well you should take them out after the wait one by one and recoat the screws with the sealant and put them back to the proper torque.

This way your making a gasket instead of smooshing out all the sealant on the initial install.

Hope you understand.
