Hi All,

Ihave a 1989 boat with a VP AQ231A, 305. I'm thinking about going to a vortec 350. My question is the flywheel different? is it 14" or 12 3/4" and will the PDS splines align into the newer engine coupler?

you have a post '86 so the flywheels should be the same. however it is a truck manual transmission flywheel. I would get the new motor balanced, and they would balance the complete rotating assembly. however for nearly the same cost as a 350, you could build a 377 or 383 stroker

use your existing coupler and PDS.

Ayuh,.... Just as a 305 can use a 12" or 14" flywheel, so can All of the other Chevy motors,.....

Ya just need a standard shift Flywheel from Chevy in whichever diameter ya need,....

When changin' the flywheel, the Starter bolt pattern changes, ya gotta be sure the block yer gonna use is drilled for the straight across bolt pattern, for the 12" flywheel,...
Most blocks have both drillin's, some only 1 or the other,...
