Flywheel cleaning

I have a 1990 90hp evinrude. Is it OK to spray brake cleaner on underside of flywheel before remounting to crankshaft? I was going to use brake cleaner on taper on crankshaft as well. Any issues with this? Thanks

As a cleaner, OK. Otherwise No!! Tapers must be clean and dry
